Computer diagnostics for versions manufactured after 2000 have greatly expanded the ability to troubleshoot. If before that the driver depended on limited information that appeared on the tidy, concerning only the main elements of the car, then thanks to the appearance of special scanners, it became possible to identify the slightest malfunction of any unit. Detailed codes became the main source of information, the decoding of which is presented below. They are equally suitable for Atego trucks of modifications 2, 816, 817, 818, 1217, 1218, 1223, 1823.

DECODING MERCEDES ATEGO MALFUNCTION CODES

Depending on the modification, the codes can be displayed on the dashboard or read by a diagnostic scanner. In older generations, they are illuminated using a blink code transmitted by a blinking light on the panel.

The modern five-digit code consists of a combination of two, three or four letters and four numbers. Letters mean breakdowns in:

AGS - automatic transmission;

WS - car maintenance system;

FR - machine motion control system;

FB - radio remote control;

INS - instrument clusters;

HSP - hydropneumatic gear shifting;

SRS - Passive Safety;

BS - anti-blocking;

NR - body level control unit;

MR - powertrain control;

PSM - special steam metering module;

MTCO - mechanical tachograph;

KSA - central locking.

In the digital part, the first two characters indicate the manufacturer, and the third indicates a malfunction:

1 - fuel system;

2 - ignition;

3 - auxiliary control;

4 - idle;

5 - power unit control systems;

6 - checkpoint.

The last digits indicate the type of breakdown.

ERROR FR 0014

The appearance of the code may indicate a breakdown of the starter wires. They need to be replaced.

FAULT 0508

The appearance indicates the presence of a short circuit in the system or an open circuit in the electrical circuit. To eliminate it, you need to check the wiring.

MERCEDES ATEGO 815: ERROR MR

If this combination of letters lights up, then a problem has arisen in the motor block. A specific malfunction is indicated by numbers or other designations after the letters.

ATEGO: FAULT 1125

Indicates a problem with the D + connector of the motion control unit. Associated with a short circuit.

ERROR FR 1723

Appears if the neutral switch of contact X418 / 16 sticks. To treat such a malfunction is simple - check the switch.

ATEGO: MALFUNCTION MP 1818

It talks about a breakdown of the discharge circuit.

ERROR 1820

Occurs when the turbocharging pressure in the engine compartment is too high.

Cooling level sensors or air filter monitoring are buggy.

ERROR ABS 3604

In the Atego, the code appears when a short circuit of the anti-lock solenoid valve is detected. A circuit check is required.

FAULT 3620: ATEGO INS

There is a problem with the condensate sensor or it is time to replace the dryer filter.

0 4041 - ATEGO FR ERROR

An implausible value of the w-signal occurs when the brushes are faulty and require replacement.

Error related to the ABS can-bus. Check the wiring.

8008 - ERROR

Appears when the 50th terminal of the control relay is short-circuited. The wiring needs to be repaired.

ERROR MR 1 9964

The code appears in case of problems with the transmission of the transponder code to terminal 50. Check wiring or transponder.

ERROR NR ATEGO

The problem is in the body position control system, the so-called "pillow".

ERROR - CODE

The appearance together with a lit key icon indicates that a malfunction has occurred in the car. Its nature is determined by diagnostics.

ERROR - UBAT

Indicates an incorrect voltage in the electrical circuit of the machine. The reason may lie in a problem with the wiring and in a malfunction of the generator, so a check of both is required.

INS ERRORS

It occurs when there are problems with the wiring of the instrument cluster sensor. There may be other reasons, which are indicated by the numbers after this combination of letters.

ATEGO ALTERNATOR BELT - ERROR

Occurs when problems with contacts or broken generator brushes. Cleaning will help solve, and the second will require replacement.

ATEGO ERRORS: CHECK AND RESET

Conducted through a diagnostic scanner or manually. In the first case, you just need to select the appropriate menu item of the device. To erase the codes manually, you need to:

• start the car engine;
• close the first and sixth contacts of the diagnostic connector for at least 3 and no more than 4 seconds;
• open the contacts and wait 3 seconds;
• close again for 6 seconds.

After this procedure, the error is cleared from the memory of the machine. A simple reset of the negative terminal for at least 5 seconds is also suitable.

For cars of early years of production, the only way to see the code is the blinking of the light on the dashboard. For newer models, the error is read directly from the scoreboard. More detailed diagnostics may require the connection of a special scanner, which is connected through the diagnostic connector located at the dashboard in the car interior.
