Detroit Diesel is one of the premier manufacturers of medium and high power engines. The company offers a complete line of commercial vehicle engines ranging from 190 to 560 horsepower. The headquarters is located in Detroit, Michigan (USA), through which all business processes are monitored and managed. The dealer network covers over 60 countries of the world located in Africa, North and South America, the Pacific region, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The organization currently employs 2,600 people working on new technologies, business methods, services and its development in general.

The entire range of products manufactured by the Detroit Diesel Corporation is divided into 3 broad categories. The first includes motors: R 1512 (three-cylinder, volume 1.50 liters), R 2016 (four-cylinder, volume 2 liters) and R 2516 (five-cylinder, volume 2.5 liters), with a capacity of 70, 111 and 140 hp. respectively. The first 2 are equipped with one overhead camshaft, the third with two located in the head. Despite their low weight (115-171 kg) and high speed, the engines have a fairly good thrust.

The second category of engines (R 425, R 531 and D 642) are in-line, 4-, 5- and 6-cylinder diesel engines with a working volume of 2.50; 3.10; 4.20 liters, with a capacity of 120-160 hp, at a speed of 4000 to 3000 min-1, respectively. There are 2 valves per cylinder, as well as a turbocharger with an intercooler, common rail injection system installed in the first two models. The mass of the engines of this series is 230, 250, 310 kg.

The third category belongs to the category of V-shaped engines - VR 3024 and VR 4024. These are 6-cylinder 24-valve diesel engines with an angle between the cylinders - 600º. Vibration reduction is achieved by balancing rollers. The VR 3024 model is equipped with 2-shaft heads, its power is 210 HP, at 4500 min-1, the working volume is 3.0 liters. The second type of engine develops a power of about 235 hp at a speed of 4000 rpm, a working volume of 4.03 liters. Both engines are equipped with a common rail direct injection system, the total weight of the assembly is 210 and 290 kg, respectively.
