The Cesab company traces its history back to 1942, when a small company was established in Bologna, which became the first manufacturer of forklifts and other warehouse equipment in Italy. Already in 1948, the company began to produce products for the maintenance of railways and organized transportations. Taking into account the active economic growth, Cesab equipment has gained wide distribution in a number of Italian enterprises. It turned out to be much more affordable than imported counterparts, not inferior to them in functionality and key technical characteristics.

The company is actively developing the line of offered warehouse equipment. Growing demand and the urgent need for environmentally friendly food trucks led Cesab to introduce the first electric forklift in Italy by 1951. The model turned out to be very successful and reliable, and capacious rechargeable batteries ensured the ability to work throughout the day. It took about 11 hours to fully charge the batteries, but eight hours were enough to replenish 85 percent of the charge. At that time, such characteristics were very impressive, which predetermined the high demand for the company's electric forklift trucks.

Since 1954, the company begins industrial production of forklift trucks with diesel power units.

Due to the high fuel efficiency against the background of fuel prices that rose in Italy in those years, these samples of warehouse equipment became widespread and made it possible to start exporting products to the nearest European countries. By the beginning of the 90s, the company had become the main supplier of warehouse equipment in the domestic market.

In the late 90s of the last century, the company joins forces with the design studio Pininfarina, together with which it launches a new range of forklift trucks. This company is well known for its collaboration with the renowned supercar manufacturer - Ferrari.

This factor has become one of the components of success, which gave the company the opportunity to take a leading position in the Italian forklift market and successfully promote its products to the external market. Cesab opens its own offices in Germany, France and England, as well as a wide network of importers throughout Europe. Italy, thanks to the activities of the CESAB corporation, is taking a leading position in the production of ergonomic warehouse equipment.

Cooperation with Toyota

With the onset of the 2000s, a large number of warehouse equipment from Japanese and European manufacturers appeared on the Italian market. Along with this, the main disadvantages of Cesab products were revealed: with very original technical solutions, the company often did not have enough resources to ensure quality control in accordance with increasing international requirements. As a matter of fact, this factor was also a tangible obstacle for the export of products to foreign markets.

In 2009, the company's management decided to create the CESAB Material Handling Europe consortium, which became part of the Japanese concern Toyota Material Handling Group. As a result, the company has received advanced technical developments and optimized production facilities in accordance with the norms set by Toyota. The attraction of a Japanese investor also made it possible to significantly reduce production costs and ensure quality control on the conveyor. In addition, the partners provided their own sales markets, thanks to which Cesab warehouse equipment began to be actively exported to European countries.

Cesab today

Today the company Cesab is a developed industrial enterprise with a staff of three hundred people. The production range of the manufacturer includes more than fifty models, including loaders with various types of power plants, electric carts, stackers, tractors and other specialized equipment. The manufacturer works with leading suppliers of components. Cesab electric forklifts are equipped with SCHABMÜLLER power units and gearboxes supplied by German companies. Diesel forklifts are equipped with engines from JOHN DEERE, KUBOTA, PERKINS and are equipped with a reliable and easy-to-use hydrostatic transmission.

The braking system used on the company's trucks should be considered an innovative solution. By reducing the number of working parts, the manufacturer was able to reduce maintenance costs by 35 percent.

Cesab appliances are designed and manufactured using the most modern technologies. The loaders are equipped with an electronic monitoring and control system that allows them to be programmed for specific tasks.

The model range of Cesab loaders includes:

  • Electric forklifts and lifting capacity from 800 kilograms to 8.5 tons;
  • Loaders with diesel engines and lifting capacity from 1.5 to 8 tons;
  • Loaders with LPG equipment, carrying capacity from 1.5 to 3.5 tons;
  • Explosion-proof electric forklifts with carrying capacity from 1.6 to 2.0 tons;
  • Towing tractors with a carrying capacity of up to five tons.

It should be noted that all products of the Italian company Cesab are exported to the leading countries of the European Union, including Germany, France and England. In these countries, there is a developed dealer network that sells and maintains Cesab warehouse equipment. At the same time, the company's products received international certification in accordance with the stringent industrial standards ISO 14001 TPS *. These standards are synonymous with the fact that the manufactured products meet all established standards for quality, reliability and safety in use.
